During the Late Cretaceous period (approximately 76–66 million years ago), Alberta was a lush, subtropical coastal plain. This environment, situated between the rising Rocky Mountains and the Western Interior Seaway, provided ideal conditions for preserving one of the world's most diverse dinosaur fossil records.
