- Narrative
- Sticker used for promotional or branding purposes. The design of this logo is inspired by the Mi'kmaw petroglyphs and was created in partnership with local Mi'kmaq artist Melissa Sue Labrador. The image of three figures paddling a canoe in the logo represents First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples and is based on petrogylphs found in Kejimkujik National Park. The Mi'kmaq canoe symbolizes their journey through space and time as Mi'kmaq people as they evolve with the world around them. Having them all together in the canoe, with the forward motion is important. The Mi'kmaq canoe is an ocean canoe, versus a lake canoe. We're surrounded by ocean and the ocean is very important to their people. NAIG was hosted inĀ Kjipuktuk (Halifax) July 15-23, 2023. NAIG is the largest multi-sport and cultural event in Atlantic Canada: 5250 Athletes, 16 sports, and 3 age divisions (male & female), over 750 Indigenous Nations represented, and 3,000+ volunteers contributed 60,000+ hours across 60 venues.
