An object shaped like a square box made of black synthetic material. It has white lettering on three of its sides. The lettering underneath portion of the box has manufacturing information. The box has a black synthetic cable that extends from it that attaches to a rectangular adapter. The adapter has two bronze colored metal prongs that extend from beneath it. Un objet fait en forme de boite qui est fait avec un matériel synthétique de couleur noire. Il y a un lettrage blanc sur trois de ces côtés. Le lettrage du dessous a de l'information concernant le manufacturier. La boite a un câble synthétique noir qui ressort de sa tête et qui s'attache a un adaptateur en forme rectangulaire. L'adaptateur a deux dents de couleur bronze qui ressort de son dessous.

- This adapter and charger were used to replenish the battery supply for the Phantom 2 drone so it could continue shooting its footage for CTV Edmonton’s broadcasting crew.

- Phantom 2 drone was the first to be employed by CTV Edmonton for newsgathering. Cameron Wiebe would become the broadcaster’s first drone pilot. This Phantom 2 drone permitted CTV Edmonton to sufficiently demonstrate the benefits of drone videography for the station’s newsgathering and broadcasting purposes. CTV Edmonton eventually upgraded to their next drone (an Inspire 1 Pro), which resulted in the Phantom 2 being retired from service. CTV Edmonton’s Remotely Piloted Aircraft System RPAS which began in 2014 now has three licensed drone operators and a fleet of drones (Mavic 2 Pros) which they use for each daily live news show (4 times per day, for traffic, weather, and news stories), as well as for pre-recorded content.

The DJI Phantom 2 was among the first consumer drones available in Canada that were designed specifically for capturing aerial video. The most significant feature, according to Cam, was the Phantom 2’s gyro-stabilized video capabilities, which permitted the capturing of smooth aerial video. Other features such as smooth flight and stable hovering capabilities, decent flight time (up to 25 minutes per battery) and rechargeable and replaceable batteries also came standard with the drone. The Phantom 2 did not come equipped with its own camera however. CTV Edmonton used a GoPro Hero3+, purchased separately, with its Phantom 2 drone.
