- An object comprised of metal that is possibly aluminum, as well as synthetic and leather material/Un objet fait avec des éléments en métal qui sont possiblement faits en aluminium, du cuir et aussi des composantes synthétiques.
An artifact that is rectangular in shape. It has a body made of metal that is painted black in colour. The front face of the artifact is made of a silver coloured metal that is possibly aluminum. It has black writing and numbering on its front. This face swivels open with the help of a hinge that runs along the base of the artifact. Inside the artifact is a piece of paper with red lines and numbers. It sits inside a circular hole with a silver metal ring around it. A threaded black knob sits on the proper left bottom corner of the artifact. When turned, this knob moves the paper and the scale can change. The back of he artifact has two sets of straps that are located under its metal feet. One set of straps are made of a black synthetic material and have a silver metal buckle on them. The other sets of straps are made of leather and also have a similar buckle. Un artefact qui est fait en forme rectangulaire. Il a un corps fait en métal qui est peinturé noir. Le devant de l'objet a une face qui est possiblement fait en aluminium. La face possède du lettrage et des numéros de couleur noire. La face peut ouvrir ou pivoter avec l'aide des charnières qui sont situées en dessous de la base de l'artefact. À l'intérieur de l'objet il y a un morceau de papier avec une échelle de couleur rouge dans un creux circulaire. Le papier peut être bougé pour ajuster l'échelle avec un bouton fileté qui est fixée à la base du bon côté gauche de l'artefact. Il y a deux sortes de sangles sur le dos de l'objet qui sont situées en dessous d'une paire de pattes en métal. Une sorte de sangle est fait en matériel synthétique de couleur noire avec des boucles en métal de couleur argent. L'autre paire de sangles est fait en cuir et possède des boucles qui sont similaire à l'autre paire de sangles.

- The donor of this artifact served in the military in the late 1940s and 1950s, as well as the Meteorological Service of Canada, a branch of the Department of Transport. The donor was heavily involved in aircraft icing research. He flew more than once aboard the Rockcliffe Ice Wagon, a Canadair C-54GM North Star transport plane of the Royal Canadian Air Force. This plane was converted into an icing research aircraft. This work was done under the auspice of the Aircraft De-icing Project of the Low Temperature Laboratory, a unit of the Division of Mechanical Engineering of the National Research Council. The donor would go on to write and co-wrote more than a dozen reports published between 1948 and 1976, primarily on aircraft icing and related issues.
Le donateur de l'objet faisait partie du militaire entre 1940 et 1960 ainsi que le Service Météorologique du Canada (Un département divisionnaire du Département de Transport).
