Description
Buckskin beaded moccasins from the Edgar Dewdney collection. The Tsuu T’ina were previously known as the Sarsi, or Sarcee, and were allies of the Blackfoot in the 19th century.

Dewdney became Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia. Moccasins were donated to RAMM in 1920 by his wife Blanche Elizabeth.

Edgar Dewdney’s brother-in-law, Mr Lawrence, was Indian Agent on the Stoney reserve, and may have been the one to have collected these moccasins.
