Description
Made mid-19th century, these Iroquois buckskin moccasins display folded down cuffs which cover the ankles. The cuffs are made from red trade cloth which are fringed with blue cloth and decorated with floral patterns of multi-coloured European-made glass beads. Moccasins were made inside out to hide the stitching in the finished shoe. This pair’s maker has employed cotton stitching.

Bequeathed by William Charles Grant in 1880.
