Albumen Print attributed to Thomas Mitchell. Image shows the HMS Discovery surrounded by the ice pack in 'Discovery' Bay, Canada. Surveying equipment and a tent anchored in the snow with a long rope can be seen on the right. Taken during the British Arctic Expedition of 1875-1876, led by Captain George Strong Nares.
